Peter is an internationally recognised urban planner, architect, and pioneer of New Urbanism and Transit-Oriented Development (TOD). Named one of Newsweek’s “25 Innovators on the Cutting Edge,” he has spent more than 30 years shaping sustainable, human-scaled communities. He is the author of The Next American Metropolis and Urbanism in the Age of Climate Change, and a founding leader of the Congress for New Urbanism. Recipient of the ULI J.C. Nichols Prize for Visionaries in Urban Development, Calthorpe has led transformative regional planning projects across the United States, advancing innovative approaches to sustainable urban design, climate resilience, and smart growth.
