Suzanne is a physician, author, and educator whose work explores the intersection of medicine, literature, and the human experience. An associate professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School and holder of the Valerie Winchester Family Endowed Chair in Primary Care Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital, she practiced primary care internal medicine for more than 30 years. Koven is the author of Letter to a Young Female Physician and writes widely for leading publications including The Boston Globe, The New England Journal of Medicine, The Lancet, and The New Yorker. Through her writing and teaching, she examines topics such as physician identity, women’s leadership in medicine, empathy, and the art of healing.
