Anthony is an acclaimed American composer, educator, and researcher whose work spans contemporary classical music, creativity, and music cognition. Educated at the California Institute of the Arts and Harvard University, he has received prestigious honours including a Koussevitzky Commission from the Library of Congress and grants from the National Endowment for the Arts. Brandt is co-founder and Artistic Director of Musiqa, a leading contemporary music ensemble recognised for innovative programming and music education. His compositions have been performed internationally, and his research explores the connections between music, creativity, language, and neuroscience. An Associate Professor of Composition at the Shepherd School of Music, Brandt is also an award-winning teacher, author of the online course Sound Reasoning, and a prominent advocate for the role of the arts in human cognition and learning.
