Donna is a distinguished educator, public servant, and healthcare policy leader whose career has spanned academia, government, and philanthropy. She served as president and CEO of the  Clinton Foundation⁠ and previously led University of Miami as president while serving as a professor of political science. Shalala also held leadership roles as president of Hunter College and chancellor of University of Wisconsin–Madison. In 1993, she was appointed U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services by Bill Clinton, serving for eight years and becoming one of the longest-serving HHS secretaries in U.S. history. A recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom, Shalala is widely recognized for her contributions to healthcare, education, public policy, human rights, and global philanthropy.
