Douglas is a media theorist, author, and professor whose work explores the impact of technology, media, and digital culture on society. He has written more than 20 influential books, including Survival of the Richest, Present Shock, Throwing Rocks at the Google Bus, Program or Be Programmed, Cyberia, and Media Virus!.


Widely recognized for popularizing concepts such as “media virus,” “social media,” and “digital natives,” Rushkoff is also the host of the Team Human podcast. His documentary work includes the acclaimed PBS Frontline films Merchants of Cool, Generation Like, The Persuaders, and Digital Nation.


Rushkoff is Professor of Media Theory and Digital Economics at Queens College, City University of New York, founder of the Laboratory for Digital Humanism, a Fellow of the Institute for the Future, and an advisor to numerous nonprofit organizations.
