Neal is a Harvard-trained physician, practicing pediatrician, and Emmy Award-winning television writer and producer who has built a distinguished career at the intersection of medicine, media, and public health. Best known as the longtime executive producer of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and former executive producer of ER, Baer has used storytelling to raise awareness of critical health and social issues. A graduate of Harvard Medical School with additional master’s degrees in education and sociology from Harvard, he has also taught health communication and public health at USC. Beyond television, Dr. Baer is a global health advocate, serving on the boards of leading healthcare organizations and co-founding the Institute for Photographic Empowerment, which uses visual storytelling to amplify the voices of underserved communities worldwide.
