Paul is an American author, veteran, and leading advocate for military service members and their families. A former U.S. Army First Lieutenant who served as an infantry platoon leader in Iraq, he is the founder and former CEO of Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA), the first and largest nonprofit organisation supporting post-9/11 veterans. Recognised as an expert on veterans’ affairs, military policy, and the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, Rieckhoff is a frequent media commentator and contributor to major publications including The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, and The Washington Post. He is also the author of the acclaimed memoir Chasing Ghosts, chronicling his military service and advocacy for veterans.
